Kapalua Ridge Villas Resort

Sullivan Properties manages several one and two bedroom vacation rentals at the Kapalua Villas which includes the Bay Villas, Ridge Villas, and Golf Villas @ Kapalua Resorts. Kapalua is home to many luxury condominiums, homes, hotels, golf courses, restaurants and beaches. Kapalua Resort has an inherent richness of beauty and culture.  Spread across 22,000 acres, Kapalua stretches from the top of one of the wettest places on earth, Puʻu Kukui to the shoreline and white sandy beaches.   Kapalua loosely translated means “arms embracing the sea.”  Hawaiian Ancestors knew this area as Honokahua which once was home to David T. Flemming and a thriving plantation village.

The Ridge Villas were originally build in 1980 and were designed to blend into the terraced hillside overlooking the beauty of Kapalua’s coastline. These luxury one and two bedroom condominium residences are made up of 161 condos in 28 separate buildings.  This location has breathtaking ocean views of the islands of Molokai, Lanai and Honolua Bay.  Units range in size from 1,100 to 2,200 square feet including lanais. The villas have high ceilings, fully equipped kitchens, washer/dryer in each unit and majestic views. Vacation rentals in this property managed by Sullivan Properties are ground floor, split level and/or air conditioned. Located on the property are two heated swimming pools, gas barbecues and recreation areas for the convenience of owners and guests. Free reserved covered parking and free WIFI are also included with each unit.

Conde Nast publication once rated Kapalua Bay as the “Best Beach in the World.”This bay is located between the Montage hotel and Merriman’s restaurant. This beach is home to some of the best snorkeling on Maui in the clear waters that are protected by two rocky points formed long ago by lava flows.  Below the 17th hole of the Kapalua Bay Golf course lays Oneloa Bay, more commonly known to locals as “Ironwoods.”  This is a favorite to surfers, body boarders and those who enjoy sunbathing without the crowd.  Be sure to bring your sunscreen and hats for coverage as there are not many trees to help you stay protected.  Slaughterhouse beach, despite the unusual name is a secluded cove with limited accessibility. A long staircase that some may find difficult, is the only entry and exit from this beach. This area was once a thriving cattle ranch, thus the unusual name! Just above the beach once held a tanning/storage shed up until the 1960s.  Much of the cattle land was turned into pineapple fields after the 1960s and remained until the early 2000s.  The most well-known bay in Kapalua is Honolua Bay. This popular surfing and snorkeling spot hosts the World Surf League, Maui Women’s Pro annually. This contest brings some of the world’s best female athletes to Kapalua for a 3 day surf competition. Depending on the swells that time of year, the waiting period can sometimes last weeks or months until the right set of waves roll in. Daily, you will find some of Maui’s most beautiful catamarans parked in the bay for their daily snorkel tours and some of Maui’s surfers trying to catch the perfect wave.

Some of Maui’s favorite restaurants are found in the Kapalua Resort.  Merrimans, Sansei, the Plantation House Restaurant, Cane and Canoe, and the Banyan Tree are a few of the fine dining establishments to celebrate any special occasion in a casual Maui ambiance. Honolua Store, the Pour House and Taverna are a little less pricy and yet serve a tasty cuisine, offering a vast selection of beverages including a coffee bar servings Maui’s own home grown coffee. Seahouse restaurant is a wonderful happy hour favorite of visitors and locals who enjoy both food and drink specials daily.  The Gazebo serves only breakfast and lunch but is also a great ocean front venue.  Napili Plaza has a few great eateries and is the closest place to purchase groceries for your condo, Napili Market.

Not only is Kapalua Resort known for its great restaurants but it also has fun hiking trails that range from easy to extremely difficult! Enjoy a leisurely stroll on the Kapalua Coastal trail that extends from DT Flemmings, along the front of the Kapalua Bay Villlas and the Montage and ends near Merriman’s at Kapalua Bay beach. The Village trails have more hills for you to conquer as compared to the coastal trail.  There are easy loops for any level of hiking ability or more challenging trails for the eager hiker including a steep hill that rewards you at the top with a duck pond and a great view.  The many routes go through the old Kapalua Village golf course by use of the old cart paths. You will enjoy panoramic views of the gorgeous Pacific Ocean, Molokai and the coastline from Kapalua to Honolua.  The third trail available in Kapalua is definitely for the avid hiker who is looking for rugged terrain and a true work out! The Mahana Ridge trail begins at DT Flemming beach and is about 20 miles round trip up to the Maunalei Arboretum then back down.  There is no shuttle and vehicle access is prohibited.  Should you attempt hiking this trail, be sure to bring adequate water, nutrition and pay close attention to the weather conditions.

Kapalua Resort pairs with The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua annually to host this event during the week-long celebration. The event welcomes the community and visitors to participate in 10k, 5k and 3.3k runs. Parts of the Mahana Ridge trail and the Village Trails come together annually by X terra which is a global brand that supports and encourages outdoor enthusiast. The constant pursuit of relentless adventure by the many athletes that participate in this competition is a feat of amazement since they had to qualify in other X Terra events to be invited to this triathlon!
