We were very much looking forward to our stay in the ocean front condo. Unfortunately we had several issues with this condo that detracted from our 10 day stay. It has a lot of potential, but needs some maintenance and cleaning. The air conditioning worked well and the location is fantastic.

Kahana Sunset is the absolute best complex on West Maui. You end up paying for excursions and wishing you’d kept your money because everything extra you paid for is already at the condo. Great snorkeling? Check. Sea turtles every day? Yup. Magical sunsets each evening? You know it.

The only issue we’ve had with our specific unit was the downstairs AC. Management requested a repair man for the next day but he never came. To be fair though, everyone was evacuated the day before for a tsunami so I’m not holding that against them.

Owners were great! Easy to get ahold of, very communicative. The unit was comfortable. Beautiful ocean view. AC in every room, which was a must.

We have been renting Kahana Sunset A4 for approximately 17 years! It has always fit my families needs, we have never wanted to stay anywhere else!

Kahana Sunset provides the opportunity to enjoy and appreciate Maui in a relaxed and beautiful environment!! The Maintenance and Grounds Staff are superb! However our rental unit needs a thorough and professional deep cleaning. The beds, bedding, bathrooms and closets are not up to the standards one would expect for a location like Kahana Sunset.

We had a great time at Kahana Sunset #A4 for a week of girlfriends getaway. The unit was comfortable and clean, and oceanfront is the greatest. The weather was not the best, and rough season, but we enjoyed reading, playing games and the beautiful grounds.

The overall property and the views were wonderful. The king mattress is not comfortable and needs replaced. Could use a deeper cleaning but other than those things its a nice condo. Property management was great to work with and quick to respond. Would consider renting again. Would recommend but would make them aware of the mattress issue.

The unit was updated and provided a perfect location for our family. From 78 years old to 11 years old we all enjoyed the stay and being right up against the ocean made the location perfect.

Our condo at Kahana Sunset A4 was clean, air conditioned ready for our 10 day visit to Maui. We have stayed here many times at A3 and wanted a bit of an upgrade (air conditioning and better furniture, and the automatic sun screen).
My one and only complaint is the main bedroom has a old bed. My wife and I had to sleep in the guest room as it was much more comfortable. Everything else was great!

The location was beautiful. The grounds are well-kept. The condo itself is nice but a bit dated. The mattress in the main bedroom needs to be replaced. The condo could use a deep clean.

This is a great place to stay if you’re staying in the West Maui area. The condo is updated and has an amazing view. The only suggestion I would recommend to management is to replace the mattress in the master bedroom, it has seen its better days. The 2 full size beds in the 2nd bedroom are very comfortable. The room has about everything you need to cook besides spices and oils. The resort maintenance crew also has all the beach stuff you need to borrow as well. They had plenty of sand toys, boogie boards and some beach chairs as well.

We found the rental unit to be in good condition and appreciated the updated kitchen. In the future we intend to rent again through Sullivan Properties. We would appreciate some additional time on the check out date - say to around 2:00 pm.

It's a beautiful place to stay, and working with Sullivan is an easy way to make it happen. Just be aware if you're looking at old pictures, the beach area has changed dramatically. It's still good though! There were whales and turtles constantly in sight

Overall we had a really good experience, the location is absolutely what makes the price worth it. couple real small things like remotes not having batteries to fans or TVs, but nothing that I even worried about contacting the host on. any questions were quickly answered by the host and communication was great. The condo complex itself is idealic, has its own private beach and nice facilities overall. Would highly recommend and if we ever come back to Maui would think about staying here again without question

Our stay was superb in every way. The location was right on the water. The grounds were maintained brilliantly and the parking was easy and close enough to not hassle with bags and multiple trips to the car were not a big deal. Epic views and the accommodations in A4 were beautiful.

Beautiful experience in A4, second trip back within a year! The views from the condo are breathtaking— sitting on our balcony and watching sunrises , sunsets and whales — and just a few steps away snorkeling with sea turtles on a small, private like beach. Our family of 5 (including 3 teen boys) were comfortable in the condo - great kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms. Kahana Sunset is a very special place and we feel so fortunate to have been a guest here.

We spent a delightful 3 weeks at Kahana Sunset in A4. The views were absolutely breathtaking and the sunsets were spectacular. Sullivan Properties staff were responsive to all our needs, the grounds surrounding the property were beautiful and well maintained. The unit (A4) was great. The amenities were nice. We liked the family oriented environment. The beach at Kahana Sunset was horrible. There was no beach at all and that was a huge disappointment for us, because the pictures (and visits to the location in the past) led us to believe there was a beach to enjoy on sight. There was no beach at all. This takes it from a 5 star rating to a 2.5 star rating for me and my family.

Everything was very clean and as described. The condo is right on the beach and we had amazing views during our stay. We would definitely stay here again!

We are Kahana Sunset Regulars, for a reason. This is a special piece of Paradise and unit A4 is one of our favorite units. Unobstruced views of Molokai and the beautiful blue ocean. The unit is updated, comfortable, exctremely clean and includes everything you would need to have a wonderful carefree vacation. We loved it so much, we are already booked for A4 for next year!

This condo was perfect for our family of 4. The location was perfect with sounds of the waves and beautiful sunsets. We had fun playing at the beach and swimming in the pool. The furniture was a little dated but still comfortable. We used the kitchen to cook breakfast. The only bugs we saw were some tiny aunts in the bathrooms and bedrooms.

After a full years wait for our 2020 Maui adventure we were able to take our kids an a good friend of theirs and meet up with our Wisconsin neighbors at Kahana Sunset. It was so worth the wait and hoops that we jumped due to COVID. A4 was perfect for the 5 of us all being adults. The unit is spacious an very comfortable for a group that size. We loved the ocean front view and the Sunset grounds are prestige. We enjoyed snorkeling, swimming , grilling and just relaxing at Kahana Sunset. We were close to other great beaches, restaurants and shopping. The Gazebo is a must for breakfast and the open market was great for fresh fruit and home mad goodies. We will definitely keep Sunset on our list for our next venture to beautiful Maui,

Kahana sunset is a great get away from it all spot. Quiet, beatiful, sound of the surf at night. Heard about through a friend. Second time we stayed there, because we like a quiet beach. Reservations were easy! pricey but a great location. Its the second time we stayed in unit A4. Overall experience was excellent!

The pool and private beach were very kid friendly and mellow. Unit A3 had a beautiful view and a good layout for our family. It really needs an upgrade though. We stayed during summer and it was uncomfortably hot and difficult to sleep despite using all of the fans. Also, the lack of a sunshade made it difficult to use the outside deck for most of the day. We would definitely return to Kahana Sunset, but I wouldnt stay in A3 again unless it gets some upgrades.

I stay at the Khana Sunset every time I am on Maui. Been doing that since the 1980's.

It was just dream came through! Ocean and stars just out of big ocean front balcony ! We loved everything about our condo !

This was our home away from home for the Christmas holiday, me and my family couldn’t have been happier with this unit. Between the kid friendly pool, the beautiful beach front and excellent location! It felt like home for the duration of our stay. We will definitely come back :)

Kahana Sunset is a gem - everything you need right there. 50 steps to the ocean and 100 steps to the pool. Bbqs with a view and turtle and whale sightings galore. The unit A3 could use a bit of updating and could be more thoughtfully equipped ( would be nice to have mugs and drinking glasses bigger than 2 sips), but adequate given amenities of the resort. Good bed and shower, but needs new carpet. Daly and updating kitchen and ensuite would go a long way.

We LOVE this property, the property staff and maintenance personnel. The A3 Unit however, was very disappointing. I do not recommend this unit. To be clear, I do recommend Kahana Sunset, just not unit A3.

Is an amazing location and we would go to kahana sunset again! But we would rent a nicer unit for the little bit extra they are. Our friends were right beside us in another Sullivan property A4 and that would be better if it was available!

This was the fourth time my family has stayed at the Kahana Sunset Resort. We stayed in Condo A-3. It was a great experience. This location was perfect for our family. The view from the condo is absolutely breathtaking, a private beach is only a few steps away from your front door, and you can watch sea-turtles feeding on a reef below your balcony. The condo was clean and well equipped, and the staff was very helpful and accommodating. Our grandchildren are already asking, "When can we go back!" I highly recommend Kahanna Sunset Resort as a family vacation destination.

We just spent a very relaxing week at Kahana Sunset in unit A3. The views were amazing!! This was our 6th stay at the property and our first stay in building A. I had read the previous reviews of this unit before deciding to give it a try. We thought it would be neat to stay just above the turtles, and it was! That was pretty much the only great thing about A3. For a million dollar condo unit we thought it could use a lot more updating and AC too!! I won’t go into all the negatives because overall we had a wonderful week. I agree with all previous comments. We will not be returning to A3 unless some changes are made. At least the bed was comfortable. Oh the things I would love to do to that place!! It is in a gorgeous location and has such potential. Kahana Sunset is our favorite property and we will definitely be back. Management and maintenance was excellent and very responsive.

Great location, the condo complex has everything you need. Can walk to the beach or the pool in 1 minute or less. All of the food and other attractions are within super close driving distance. I’d definitely stay here again! Snorkeling at the condo was also not too bad, turtles seem to like to hangout in the bay there.

This is the second stay for me at Kahana Sunset A3. The communication from the property management company was excellent. I rated the property low due to very outdated fixtures and very worn out and dated furniture/rugs. Because of this, the unit just doesn't feel clean and fresh. The sofa cushions were worn as was the large area rug. The cracked/broken linoleum flooring downstairs, worn carpet on the stairs and floors upstairs felt very dirty. The same bathroom cabinet door in the master bath that was broken last year is still broken. The shower curtain in the master bath has rust around the shower curtain rings and the curtain itself has some mildew on it. This is not an expensive fix. The kitchen has very worn and tired cabinets and drawers and has an overall dirty feel to it. Plus the lack of basic kitchen utensils and cookwares makes cooking pretty challenging. The electrical plugs feel loose and often the plugs would come out when attempting to charge cell phones and electronics. During my stay, it rained heavily off and on for nine days. All of the other units in building A have a nice, retractable awning that allowed guests to sit outside during the rain. A3 is the only unit that doesn't have an awning. Also the lack of air conditioning made for some very warm afternoons and evenings. The price for A3 reflects its lack of updates and amenities. Wish the owners would have more pride in their property and at least refresh it. This review is NOT a reflection of housekeeping. They are doing the best they can working with very worn and outdated materials. The view is wonderful and the grounds are beautifully maintained. Compared to the other units, this unit just falls short with the basics.

It was horribly hot. They need some sort of window units. The couple fans they had was definitely not enough. The bathrooms and kitchen is desperate for some updates and cleaning. We were so miserable there we had to go rent a hotel room. The beach was the only thing we thought was good about staying there.

Great location. Lovely to be right on the water. The resort is clean and lovely, we especially enjoyed the beach and pool. The condo itself (A3) is in need of some repair (one of the nobs on stove is on order, second bedroom cold facet is too tight, wiring on downstairs ceiling fan is sketchy, there are holes in downstairs flooring) as well as being outdated. However the furniture was fine. It is cheaper than other units on the water but be aware there are more issues than just being out of date. Would definitely stay at and recommend Kahana Sunset but would not return to A3.

We stayed in A3 with another couple for 2 weeks. The grounds and staff working the units were very professional and kind. A3 has a beautiful view but that’s the extent of it. It is seriously outdated with things falling apart , falling off or just not working. The floor is missing patches of flooring. The front door drops chunks of paint each time you close it. The toilet roll holders are falling off the walls. The bath doesn’t drain (took over 24hrs). The stove top only has a couple burners working. Fridge has broken shelves. Doors don’t close. Internet crashed and didn’t work the last few days. Coffee pot is a serious fire hazard. The list goes on. Whomever owns this place needs to put some TLC into it. I really don’t think you will receive return guests. For the same amount of money I will get another unit with the same price but well looked after.

Of course the location of Kahana Sunset is wonderful, however I do not believe unit A3 lives up to the anticipated experience. The unit needs significant upgrades in all rooms including the kitchen. Minimal cooking utensils also contributed to the issue. I would recommend Sullivan no longer list this unit for rent.

The unit is just as advertised. The unit has a great view and is located in a nice area. The bed is comfortable and is located just down the way from a shopping center with good eats. Surprisingly the little market there has fantastic poke. Word is out though so you will want to go in the morning. The Sea Shore restaurant down the way ended up having the best Mai Tai than anywhere else we tried during our trip. Just as the description says, there is no air conditioning. We took showers just before bed to stay cool. All in all it was a good stay but I think next time I’d rather pay more and have air conditioning. I thought we would be cool enough without it but we did have some nights where we were pretty warm. We went in the beginning of October.

Kahana Sunset is a beautiful location, and was very accommodating and friendly. We had a few deficiencies in our unit, like light bulbs out, missing kitchen items, but were taken care of immediately when reported to Sullivan properties. Overall a great experience!!

Your thoughtfulness in making sure the condo was properly cleaned and ready for us when we arrived was much appreciated.We can never be there often enough or long enough. Leaving is the hardest, least enjoyable part of our stay!

The location of this condo is perfect. The beach is directly below you and the condo is nicely situated a short drive from many other great beaches and sights. We were lucky enough to be there during whale season, and we saw whales every day from our balcony. The rooms are very comfortable, and while the kitchen is dated, the prices reflects that fact. We ended up cooking several meals down at the community grills that are fantastic. We would certainly stay here again!

We always enjoy our time at the Kahana Sunset. This year especially we appreciated all of the care that the onsite manager (Carol) gave us--we had an important package coming and she made certain it was delivered. Regarding Unit A3, it is our "go to " unit but this year there were a few things that we thought might use improvement. The "sharp" knives were not sharp and only one was suitable for sharpening--fortunately there was a a sharpening steel and we were able to keep an edge on the one knife. There was no spatula for turning hamburgers on the grill. The refrigerator seemed to really be struggling and made lots of strange noises--seeming to run a great deal. Other wise our stay was lovely. Love the location and the care that Sullivan Properties accords us as guests. When we had an issue with chain smoking guests in A4 it was promptly and courteously resolved. Steve was courteous and prompt with correspondence. Since the unit has not been remodeled we felt that the price was very fair and appropriate.

We loved everything about our stay here at the golf villa. The service was excellent, and the process from beginning to end was seamless. I would definitely recommend this property, and overall would give an overall rating of 5 stars. The views of the golf course and ocean was beautiful. The property management company Sullivan Properties was very responsive and proactive by checking in with me a few times to make sure our needs and even wants were satisfied.

Your team was very responsive to issues with the unit. After a stressful first night with the air conditioner leaking water through the ceiling onto the entry tile, the visit was fine. This particular unit, compared to other golf villas I have stayed in, could use some fresh paint and updates.

The listing, communication and instructions were as described. It was nice to be at ground level, no stairs to climb or multi levels in the unit. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you need to cook. Kapalua Bay was a 10 minute walk, saving the headache of trying to find parking at the beach. Very nice community!

The unit was poorly maintained. The odor of mold was very strong. The shower in bathroom did not work, but they did repair it. The toilet seat in 2d bathroom was unstable. Great views.

Condo was very nice with all appliances working well. Everything was clean and well maintained.

Had the pleasure of putting my daughter and husband as well as son and girlfriend in this unit while we staying in a 3 bedroom down the hill. The unit has nice upgrades and easily accessible on the main level-no steps to go up or down for the unit which helps. We spent 10 days over Thanksgiving and had a great experience. We've been to Kapalua 10+ times and you can tell the units that are old and dated and those that have the nicer remodeling done and this is one of the latter. Overall a great unit and we had a great time there!

A great place, very well set up with lots of extras. Very clean, great check in and check out instructions. Enjoyed our stay there, hopefully will do it again.

It was our fist time on Maui and everything was really excellent - especially our condo at Kapalua. Clean, quietly situated, great location, everything in the apartment one could need. It was really just perfect and we would recommend this to anybody. Excellent communication, clear instruction on how to find. Of course it was no cheap location. But in relation to what you get it is just right.
